We have developed a reliable methodology for controlling costs through the various stages of a project - we regard this as a key part of our service. We sometimes work with quantity surveyors but for the most part we manage costs on behalf of clients ourselves. We use cost data from previous projects in building up cost plans. We start from client's overall budget and develop a cost plan broken down into constituent elements i.e. building work, professional fees, local authority charges, VAT etc. As design work progresses and the outline cost estimate is produced it is possible to align the scope of works in the project with the works element of budget. We then know that the package of work for which we develop a detailed design and specification is within budget. We revise and correct the outline cost plan through the course of work on site. Our projects range in value from £10,000 to £250,000 in value. Clients will be mainly concerned with the value and enjoyment derived from the completed project but they will also be interested in its effect on financial value of the property.
